I have searched online and tried 3 different methods. Resizing WinRe partition, won't let me resize the manufacturers partition. restarting Services did nothing Running window update trouble shooter was a waste of time. nothing has resolved this error. Perhaps Microsoft need to push an update that easily fixes this problem. Most Windows users are not willing or skilled to try all these detailed fixes. MICROSOFT - JUST FIX IT!

Same problem here. Message is always Status: Installing - 0% and after some time message is: "Error encountered. There were some problems installing updates, but we'll try again later. Every PC is suffering from this error, basically because the Update is trying to write to the "Recovery" partition" which by default is only a few hundred megabyte, not BIG enough. The trick that solves this, is making the "Recovery" partition a little bigger. I am hoping Microsoft releases a fix because changing the partition size, is not for the faint hearted.

I have used Minitool partition wizard..(No promotion) I had 500mb reserved storage then 236gb c drive and another 500mb as recovery partition (the partition was in the same sequence mentioned). In recovery partition through windows disk management i found the fully free but when i went to see through minitool partition wizard i found only 88mb was free. Theni resized drive c and reduced it to 235gb and added that 1gb to the recovery partition. Then i restarted and successfully installed the update. I went through a YouTube video that showed doing these through cmd but i felt easier with minitool partition wizard. Again i say this is no promotion.. I have done what i have felt easy and comfortable...

Hello, As per Microsoft’s support article, Windows 10 KB5034441 brings a security vulnerability fix related to Bitlocker encryption. The update requires sufficient space in the recovery partition, and if it’s not large enough, the installation fails. The error message may also include “Windows Recovery Environment servicing failed (CBS_E_INSUFFICIENT_DISK_SPACE). My PC does not have a recovery partition and Microsoft recommended that it can be safely ignored. However, policies enforce by organization block me from login if patches is not applied. Could Microsoft recall this patch while fix in on the way?

As of Mar 16, 2024 This problem installing "2024-01 Security Update for Windows 10 Version 22H2 for x64-based Systems (KB503444)" has not changed.

As posted by Bennett Smith back on Jan 22, "Most Windows users are not willing or skilled to try all these detailed fixes." I'm included in this set.

Does MS have any estimate on when a fix will be released that will be suitable for the typical MS Win 10 user?

Thanks in advance for an MS update on this pending fix.

If you dont see the "Recovery" partition, its usually "Hidden", you can find it with software like "Mini Partition Tool"

A month has now passed and Microsoft has still not done anything.
For systems without RE, the update is still being offered and then fails.
And everyone else, including pure end users, are told to change the partition size manually... a joke!

"We are working on a resolution and will provide an update in an upcoming release."
Together then with Windows 12 or even earlier? ;-)
